The youth wing of the Czech political party Tradition, Responsibility, Prosperity, part of the country’s ruling coalition, has condemned the recent attack on Igor Narmania, head of the United National Movement’s youth organisation in Georgia.
In a statement released on Saturday, the organisation called the assault “absolutely unacceptable,” stressing that no one should fall victim to violence because of their political views.
“While in Czechia we celebrate democracy, we received sad news from our Georgian colleagues. Narmania [...] was attacked along with his team members by an armed group wielding blunt iron objects, as they were preparing to make a statement about a protest rally. [He] required hospitalisation due to the injuries sustained,” the statement read.
The Czech youth wing expressed “full solidarity” with their Georgian partners and strongly condemned the incident.
