Ukrainian citizen arrested in Georgia over large-scale methadone trafficking

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the arrest of a Ukrainian citizen, identified as O.S., born in 2002, on charges of illegal purchase, possession, and attempted distribution of a substantial quantity of narcotic drugs.
The arrest was made by officers of the Khelvachauri District Division of the Adjara Police Department in western Georgia, the body said on Monday.
According to law enforcement, O.S. is accused of acquiring and storing an exceptionally large amount of methadone, which was discovered during searches of his personal belongings and temporary residence. The narcotic substance, packaged in candy wrappers, was allegedly prepared for distribution at multiple locations. Police also recovered electric scales and other packaging materials believed to be used in the drug trade.
