German citizen arrested in Adjara on drug-related charges

Police in Georgia’s Adjara region have detained a German national on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing and facilitating the distribution of a large quantity of narcotic substances, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Sunday.

The suspect was arrested by officers of the Adjara Police Department. During a search of his person and temporary residence, law enforcement seized a significant amount of methadone prepared for sale.

Police also confiscated materials used for packaging the narcotic substance.

The crime is punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
