Russian citizen arrested in Batumi on drug trafficking charges

The suspect, identified as A.B., was detained as a result of complex operative and investigative measures

Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department’s Adjara Main Division have arrested a Russian citizen, born in 1984, on charges of illegal possession and attempted distribution of large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
According to the ministry, the suspect, identified as A.B., was detained as a result of complex operative and investigative measures.
During a search of the suspect’s residence and temporary accommodation, police seized packages of the narcotic substance methadone, allegedly prepared for sale. Investigators also confiscated materials used for drug packaging, including adhesive tapes and an electronic scale.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260 (Part 3) and 260¹ (Part 6, subparagraph “a”) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provide for imprisonment ranging from 20 years to life.
