The Ministry of Internal Affairs on Wednesday reported that officers from the Adjara Police Department, together with the State Security Service, had arrested two citizens of Turkey on drug-related charges - S.T., born in 1999, and F.G., born in 2001.

According to the State Security Service, the detainees are members of the Turkey-based criminal organization known as the Barış Boyun group.

They have been accused of the illegal purchase and possession of a large quantity of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

During searches of the suspects’ persons and temporary residence, law enforcement officers seized substantial amounts of various drugs and psychotropic pills, including MDMA, marijuana, pregabalin, and gabapentin, the authorities said.

The offense carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.
