Police in Georgia have arrested four foreign nationals on charges related to the illegal possession, distribution and facilitation of the sale of large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has said.
Officers from the Adjara Police Department carried out a series of operations that led to the arrests at different times.
During searches of the suspects, their homes and vehicles, as well as other locations linked to the investigation, police seized substantial quantities of illegal drugs and psychotropic substances.
The confiscated items included nearly three kilograms of methadone, as well as cocaine, mephedrone, marijuana and pregabalin, according to investigators.
Police also recovered narcotics allegedly sold by one of the suspects, cash believed to have been obtained through drug sales, and materials used for packaging drugs.
If convicted, the suspects could face up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment, authorities said.
