Georgian police have arrested three foreign nationals in the Adjara region in the country’s west on charges of possessing and storing large quantities of illegal narcotic substances, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Thursday.

The suspects include an Israeli citizen identified as M.K. (born 1984), a Russian citizen E.M. (born 2004), and a Belarusian citizen V.N. (born 1997). They were detained at different times following “coordinated operational and investigative actions” carried out by the Adjara Police Department.

The Ministry noted the searches of the suspects’ personal belongings and residential properties had resulted in the seizure of a particularly large amount of banned substances, including mephedrone, methadone, and alpha-PVP. Police also confiscated items used for packaging narcotics.

The offense carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life in prison.
