Police in Georgia’s Adjara region have arrested two Turkish citizens accused of illegally purchasing, storing, carrying and selling firearms and ammunition, the Interior Ministry has announced.

The suspects, identified as B.O., born in 1980 and previously convicted, and M.B., born in 1993, were detained in Batumi during a joint operation carried out by local police and the Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators said the pair allegedly sold firearms and ammunition illegally and for cash to another individual. Officers carried out covert surveillance and operational measures before making the arrests.

Police seized the weapons, ammunition and money believed to have been used in the transaction as evidence.

The case is being investigated under Article 236, Part 6 of Georgia’s Criminal Code. If convicted, the suspects face up to 11 years in prison.
