Officers from the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia’s Interior Ministry have arrested a Turkish national who was wanted internationally through an Interpol Red Notice.

The Ministry said the suspect – identified as T.P., born in 1974 – was detained in the city of Batumi.

The Interior Ministry said the individual was being sought at the request of Turkish law enforcement authorities on charges related to unlawful deprivation of liberty and a sexual-violence offence.

Authorities said extradition procedures, in accordance with the law, are currently under way.
