Officers from the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department under Georgia’s Interior Ministry have detained two Turkish nationals wanted under Interpol red notices.

The detainees were being sought by the law enforcement authorities of Turkey and Kazakhstan for various serious crimes, the ministry press office said on Friday.

The suspects were arrested at different times in Ozurgeti and Batumi following investigative operations carried out by Georgian police.

The ministry said extradition procedures are currently under way in relation to the detained individuals.
