Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia, from the Adjara Police Department, have detained a Turkish citizen wanted under an Interpol Red Notice.

According to the MIA, the suspect - identified as Sh.G., born in 1990 - was wanted by Turkish law enforcement authorities on charges related to the illegal production and trafficking of narcotic or psychotropic substances.

The arrest was made in Batumi following a series of coordinated operational and investigative activities conducted by Georgian police.

Authorities said that extradition procedures for the detained individual are currently underway in accordance with Georgian law.
