Georgia’s Interior Ministry has announced the establishment of a new regional unit of the Central Criminal Police Department in Adjara, aimed at strengthening efforts against organised crime and the illegal drug trade.

Interior Minister Geka Geladze on Tuesday inaugurated the newly rehabilitated headquarters in Batumi alongside First Deputy Minister Roland Meskhi and Central Criminal Police Department Director Davit Kiknadze.

The ministry said the modern facility had been equipped with the latest technology and workspaces designed to meet contemporary standards. Geladze toured the building, spoke with staff and introduced the unit’s new leadership team, wishing them success in their work.

The new unit will primarily operate in Adjara but will also cover wider areas of western Georgia. At the meeting, Geladze thanked department employees for their contributions and underlined the ministry’s commitment to strengthening police capabilities.
