Gabaidze said he plans to relinquish his parliamentary mandate in the near future

The chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Davit Gabaidze, has stepped down from his position after nearly a decade in office.

Gabaydze said he had been considering the decision for some time and had consulted with his political team, adding that he believed “changes are necessary” after serving in the role for almost ten years.

He also clarified that his tenure as chairman began before Tornike Rizhvadze assumed leadership of the regional government.

Gabaidze said he plans to relinquish his parliamentary mandate in the near future and noted that he has received other professional offers, though he did not provide further details.

He had most recently been elected as chairman for a third term following the latest elections.
