For the first time in its 63-year history, the Association for European Paediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC) has appointed an official national representative from Georgia.
Paediatric cardiologist Nikoloz Labartkava has been elected as Georgia’s national delegate to the AEPC for a three-year term. He works at Jo Ann University Hospital and lectures at European University.
The appointment marks a milestone for Georgia’s medical community, as the country had not previously been formally represented within the association.
Speaking about his election, Labartkava said the role was both an honour and a responsibility, adding that he hoped to contribute to the development of paediatric cardiology and paediatric interventional cardiology in Georgia.
The AEPC brings together specialists from across Europe focused on paediatric and congenital heart disease, promoting research, education and clinical cooperation.
