After Ukraine, Moldova has completed a questionnaire required to gain the EU candidate country status.
Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia officially applied for EU membership after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
Georgia submitted a request on March three and received the questionnaire with 369 questions on April 11, along with Moldova, while Ukraine received it a bit earlier.
The Georgian authorities have not announced the compilation of the questionnaire so far.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu hosted a special ceremony earlier today dedicated to the compilation of the questionnaire.
“EU membership is the national project of Moldova, the project of the current generation, it is a light at the end of the tunnel which we all need very much. To do this, we must work and the joint efforts of the whole community are required. The European Union is, above all, a project of peace, prosperity and democracy. Moldova will be safe in the European family,” said Sandu.
Initially Georgia had plans to apply for EU membership by 2024. However, Russia’s war in Ukraine has changed plans for the three Easpern Partnership countries.
