Air assets have been involved in the fire-fighting operations in the Mestia municipality of western Georgia, where the blaze erupted on Monday, the country’s Emergency Management Service said on Wednesday.
More than 1,300 professionals, with the use of seven helicopters, are still trying to put out forest fires in the country’s central-western Borjomi municipality, which erupted on August 19.
High temperatures, which are expected to continue through the week, hamper the fight-fighting activities and increase the possibility of new blazes.
It is more that a month no rains have been reported in the county.
