The State Security Service (SSS) has publicly released information in response to all the questions raised in the BBC documentary regarding a controversial substance, making the details fully accessible to the public, Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze claimed on Monday.
According to Darakhvelidze, the special substances used by police against antigovernmental protesters last year were deployed “strictly in situations involving mass unrest.”
“The State Security Service conducted a thorough and comprehensive investigation, providing answers to all the questions highlighted in the BBC film. Regarding the special substances used by the police, these are employed only when there is mass disorder. The investigation reviewed all documents related to the purchase and handling of the substance. Accordingly, the SSS has shared detailed information about the substance acquired and held between 2007 and 2009. All relevant questions have been addressed, and the public can access this information freely,” Darakhvelidze said.
BBC claimed the Georgian authorities had used Camite to disperse protests.
