Aleksi Petriashvili, a researcher at the Rondeli Foundation, has highlighted the significance of sanctions imposed by Germany at the national level. According to him, these sanctions could include both visa restrictions and financial measures.

“Germany’s sanctions already target judges, political figures, and individuals. The importance of these measures lies in the fact that while unanimity within the European Union may not always be achievable due to the stance of certain member states, we are witnessing a cascade of sanctions at the national level. These may involve visa bans or financial restrictions,” said Petriashvili.

He further noted that other European countries, including Poland and France, are likely to join the coalition within the framework of the Weimar Triangle and beyond, forming a broad alliance to impose sanctions on specific Georgian individuals.

According to reports, in the coming days, diplomatic and service passport holders from Georgia will face the suspension of visa-free travel to the Schengen zone.
