All people of good will praying for peace in Middle East – Georgian Patriarch

Georgian Patriarch Ilia II on Thursday said “today, all people of good will are praying for peace in the Middle East ”, in reaction to the ongoing Israeli-Hamas conflict. 

“We, on our part, implore daily the Holy Trinity to grant peace to the Holy Land, its people and the entire world. May God hear our prayers”, the Patriarch said in his tweet. 

The Israel Defence Forces have carried out a “targeted raid” overnight in northern Gaza using tanks, following the Hamas attack on October 7 that killed more than 1,400 in Israel and left thousands injured, with more than 220 still being held hostage in the Gaza Strip controlled by the Palestinian militant nationalist and Islamist movement. 

More than 7,000 have been killed since Israeli air strikes on Gaza began – an increase of 500 since Wednesday –  the Hamas-run health ministry said on Thursday.
