Allegedly eight individuals have been killed as a helicopter of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs crashed a rock in mountainous Gudauri region on Friday, who were on  route to assist two tourists.

 

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there were four crew members on board the helicopter, as well as two rescuers from the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and two medics from the Emergency Coordination and Emergency Assistance Centre of the Ministry of Health.

 

“Relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are present in the vicinity of Gudauri, at the scene of the incident and are conducting all necessary measures,” said the ministry.

 

Earlier today, in the vicinity of Gudauri, during a paragliding flight, two  individuals fell on a rocky slope.

 

A helicopter belonging to the border police was involved in the rescue operation, which lost control and crashed a rock.
