Georgian opposition meets with President to discuss international investigation into alleged election fraud

Following the Georgian opposition’s closed-door meeting with President Salome Zourabichvili, Anna Dolidze, leader of the Strong Georgia Coalition, stated that the discussions focused on advancing demands for an international investigation into the recent elections and assessing the prospects for European Union support.

“This was another coordination meeting, intended for information exchange. We reviewed the progress of the protest efforts, and the investigative evidence report, and discussed the outlook for international inquiry, including the EU’s stance. Our discussions addressed how to intensify diplomatic efforts and organize future stages of protest if necessary. The opposition leads the protest movement, with the president standing in support,” Dolidze reported.

She added that diplomatic engagement will be heightened as the European Union monitors the situation closely. She emphasized that the current parliament remains unrecognized, highlighting the opposition’s ongoing work with EU ambassadors and representatives to push for an inquiry while maintaining momentum for domestic protests.

“This closed meeting allowed us to share critical insights. President Zourabichvili is an essential source of information for our allies, helping to ensure our partners receive accurate updates on developments here,” Dolidze said.
