Abkhazian Gov’t prioritises healthcare access for displaced communities

The Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia is continuing efforts to monitor and improve medical services for internally displaced persons (IDPs), with senior officials conducting on-site visits to health centres across the country.

As part of the initiative, Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia Giorgi Jincharadze visited the Kutaisi branch of the Medical Center Diomedi in the country’s west to assess the quality of care being provided to displaced patients.

Joined by Acting Mayor of Kutaisi Davit Eremeishvili, Jincharadze met with clinic administrators and healthcare staff to discuss challenges in the sector and outline future steps to improve access to essential services for IDPs.

“Our main goal is for the IDP population from Abkhazia to receive timely and high-quality medical services,” Jincharadze said. “That’s why we are holding these meetings across the country - to see the real picture on the ground and take effective action.”

The Chairman thanked the clinic’s staff for their continued work with displaced populations and stressed that the government’s focus remained on supporting those who have fled Abkhazia due to conflict.

The meeting was also attended by Manona Gejua, Acting Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Tskhakaia, Deputy Mayor of Kutaisi, and Natia Partsvania, General Director of Diomedi Medical Center.

According to officials, similar visits were being conducted at polyclinics across the country to evaluate services and respond to problems faced by displaced residents.
