The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Giorgi Jinjiradze, has visited a settlement for internally displaced people (IDPs) in Senaki, western Georgia. He was accompanied by Besik Kusidi, Abkhazia’s Minister of Health and Social Protection.
During the visit, the officials met families displaced from the currently Russian-controlled Abkhazia region and heard first-hand accounts of the challenges they face in their daily lives. Residents raised concerns about living conditions and broader social and economic issues.
Jinjiradze said improving the housing and welfare of displaced citizens remained a top priority for the Abkhazian government-in-exile. He stressed that work was under way in coordination with both central and local authorities to create dignified living conditions and provide new opportunities, particularly for young people.
“We continue meeting with our citizens displaced from Abkhazia across Georgia. Enhancing their housing and social situation is one of our government’s key priorities. That is why we are working on policies tailored to the needs of each family,” he said.
