Prosecution charges dance teacher in Batumi with violence against minor

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has filed charges against a dance teacher for violence against a minor, following an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The investigation revealed that on September 10, in the Palace of Youth in Batumi, a dance teacher physically assaulted a minor student, resulting in minor bodily injuries to the child.

The teacher has been charged under Article 126, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to violence against a minor with prior knowledge. This offense carries a sentence of up to two years of imprisonment. The teacher has since been dismissed from their position.

The Batumi City Court has imposed bail of 2,000 GEL as a preventive measure. The case will proceed to a substantive hearing within the legal time frame at the Batumi City Court.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
