Armenian PM calls his Georgian counterpart amid military escalation with Azerbaijan

The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation on Tuesday which was initiated by the Armenian politician, the Administration of the Government of Georgia said. 

“Nikol Pashinyan informed Garibashvili about the situation created as a result of another military escalation and confrontation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia”, said the press office. 

In its comments, the press office that Garibashvilii expressed hope that the parties would return to the negotiation table and the situation would be resolved peacefully.

“The Prime Minister of Georgia once again confirmed the readiness of Georgia to carry out active mediation for de-escalation and peace in the region” said the press office. 

Last year Georgia mediated talks between the two countries on the release of Armenia war prisoners at the exchange of handing over certain maps.
