Armenian PM confirms request for high-ranking officials’ resignations

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed media reports that he has asked several high-ranking officials to resign. However, he did not specify the names of the individuals involved.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Monday, Pashinyan said, “Dear compatriots, taking into account the mass discussion in the press and social networks, I consider it necessary to inform you that I have asked some high-ranking officials to leave their positions.”

The Prime Minister clarified that the reason behind his request is “not personal, but systemic,” a matter he had publicly addressed previously.

According to Armenian media, Pashinyan’s decision led to the resignation of several top officials, including the Minister of Internal Affairs, the heads of the investigative and anti-corruption committees, the Revenue Service, the Minister of Territorial Management and Infrastructure, and the Chairman of the Supreme Court Council. The resignations were attributed to Pashinyan’s dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in reforms within the judicial and law enforcement sectors.
