Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Friday conveyed congratulations to the government and people of Georgia for achieving the status of a candidate for the European Union last month, during a joint briefing with his Georgian counterpart in Tbilisi following the 13th intergovernmental session of economic cooperation between the two states.

Expressing gratitude for hosting the session and organizing it “at a high level”, Pashinyan stressed the significance of this achievement for both Georgia and the broader South Caucasus region.

The discussions during the intergovernmental session covered a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from economic matters to cultural exchanges, trade, and human relations, he said.

In efforts to streamline customs processes and enhance cross-border cooperation, Pashinyan highlighted “active discussions” between the customs authorities of Armenia and Georgia over the implementation of joint control models at border points.

He also shared details about the Peace Crossroads project of the Republic of Armenia. Initially presented at the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum in October of the previous year, he noted the project aimed to bolster regional relations, positioning the region as a vital link between the South and the North, the West and the East.

Pashinyan emphasized the inclusive nature of the project, offering opportunities for all states to participate in economic initiatives.
