Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has, for the first time, extended his congratulations to Azerbaijan on the occasion of the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram).

“Congratulations to the Republic of Azerbaijan and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Kurban Bayram. Wishing peace and prosperity to our countries and peoples,” Pashinyan wrote on the social media platform X.

Azerbaijani state media reported on the message with the headline, “Pashinyan Congratulates Azerbaijan on Kurban Bayram for the First Time.”

The move comes amid ongoing efforts by Armenia and Prime Minister Pashinyan to secure a peace agreement with Azerbaijan following Azerbaijan’s full restoration of control over Nagorno-Karabakh. Despite an agreed draft text, the peace deal has yet to be signed, with Yerevan saying it awaits a clear signal of readiness from Baku.
