US military personnel have detained another tanker belonging to Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet”, with the vessel Olina intercepted in the Caribbean Sea, according to a statement from US Southern Command.

The Command said the detention sends a signal that “there is no safe haven for criminals”.

Earlier this week, US forces detained two other tankers linked to Russia. One of them, the Russia-flagged tanker Marinera, was seized between Iceland and the British Isles during an operation carried out by the US Coast Guard.

On the same day, another tanker, Sophia, also identified as part of Russia’s “shadow fleet”, was detained in the Caribbean Sea.
