In the United States, the third phase of trials of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been completed; its effectiveness is 79%.

According to the test results, the vaccine is 79 percent likely to prevent the symptoms of COVID-19 and is 100 percent likely to prevent the occurrence of serious illness as a result of infection with the coronavirus. reported by news_copyru.co.il.

In the tests, which, in addition to the United States, took place in Chile and Peru, 32 thousand people took part.

The trials did not find data indicating that the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca caused thromboembolism.

Earlier, British and European medical regulators have already stated that they consider it safe to use the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This vaccine is widely used in the UK and Europe. Now, after US trials, the vaccine will need to get FDA approval within a few months.

As a reminder, the AstraZeneca vaccine is given in two doses, four weeks apart.

Previously, doubts were expressed that the vaccine is effective for people over 65 years of age, but a fifth of the volunteers in the last phase of the trials were over this age.
