Sulkhan Tamazashvili was nominated for the position of Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara on Friday.

“I have presented Sulkhan Tamazashvili’s candidacy to the Supreme Council for approval as the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. This decision was made based on consultations with political entities represented in the Supreme Council of Adjara and with the co-signature of the Prime Minister of Georgia. Sulkhan Tamazashvili is a police colonel with extensive experience in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He has held leadership positions in various departments of the ministry, where he has successfully and honorably fulfilled his duties,” stated President Mikheil Kavelashvili.

The nomination follows the resignation of Tornike Rizhvadze, who stepped down as Chairman of the Government of Adjara today.
