Atrocities, violation of int’l law by Russia continue – Estonian PM on Russia-Georgia war anniversary

Kaja Kallas, the Estonian Prime Minister, on Monday tweeted that atrocities and violations by Russia continued on the 15th anniversary of the Russia-Georgia 2008 armed conflict, on the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. 

 

“We must end Russia’s cycle of aggression. Estonia continues to support Georgia’s territorial integrity”, the official tweeted. 

 

She noted 20 percent of the Georgian territories remained occupied by Russia. 

 

The conflict in early August in 2008 killed about 400, including 224 civilians, 170 servicemembers and 14 police officers, with 27,582 remaining internally displaced.
