The Austrian Embassy in Georgia has expressed deep sorrow over the death of His Holiness, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, offering condolences to all Orthodox Christians in Georgia and abroad

The Austrian Embassy in Georgia has expressed deep sorrow over the death of His Holiness, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, offering condolences to all Orthodox Christians in Georgia and abroad.

In its statement, the Embassy said “the Austrian Embassy expresses its profound sadness at the passing of His Holiness, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia, and extends condolences to all Orthodox believers in Georgia and beyond.”

Patriarch Ilia II, who led the Georgian Orthodox Church for decades, passed away on 17 March at the age of 93.
