Officers from the Rustavi City Division of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department under Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested one person on charges of large-scale fraud.

According to the Interior Ministry, an investigation found that the suspect allegedly misappropriated $374,000 paid by a foreign citizen for the import of 43 vehicles from abroad and failed to fulfil the agreed obligation.

Law enforcement officers subsequently detained the suspect, identified as the director of an auto dealership company, following investigative actions carried out as part of the criminal case.

The crime carries a prison sentence of up to nine years.
