Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has praised the outcome of talks with his Georgian counterpart Maka Botchorishvili, describing their meeting on Tuesday as an important step toward strengthening the strategic partnership and friendly ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Speaking after the meeting, Bayramov emphasised the depth of bilateral relations and mutual support on key issues. “I believe that today's meeting and negotiations will be very important for the development and deepening of friendly relations between the two countries, for the development and deepening of strategic partnership,” he said.
Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan and Georgia have “consistently supported” each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity both bilaterally and in international forums. He also highlighted the close ties between the two nations' leaders, referencing recent high-level visits, including those by Georgia’s prime minister and president to Azerbaijan.
“Our leaders enjoy a sincere and intensive relationship. These frequent exchanges confirm the friendly relations and mutual respect between our countries,” he said, adding that he had invited Botchorishvili to visit Baku.
The two ministers also reviewed various areas of cooperation, with a focus on economic ties. Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s role as a major investor in Georgia, noting that Azerbaijani investments in the Georgian economy have reached $3.6 billion to date.
“The large-scale projects implemented jointly are contributing significantly to the prosperity of both nations. We also explored future cooperation opportunities and discussed the tourism potential stemming from our geographic advantages,” he said.
Bayramov added that the meeting also addressed broader regional and global challenges. He briefed Botchorishvili on the status of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict, including reconstruction efforts in territories recently returned to Azerbaijani control and the process of refugee resettlement.
