Zakir Hasanov, a defence minister of Azerbaijan, visited Georgia earlier on Monday, holding a meeting with prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and his colleague Juansher Burchuladze.
The visit comes shortly after the October trip of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev to Georgia, which was his second visit to the country after 2015 on the backdrop of Russia-Ukraine war.
Domestic press offices said that “strategic partnership”, regional challenges sparked by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, joint projects and prospects for further cooperation had been discussed at the meetings.
The officials also discussed the recent visit of Aliyev and Garibashvili regional peace initiative, to mediate between Azerbaijan and Armenia amid the two neighboring states’ continued dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh.
