Azerbaijani prime minister Ali Asadov on Thursday visited Tbilisi to hold a face-to-face meeting with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili and participate in a ninth session of Georgia-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Economic Commission.

Ahead of the session, Garibashvili praised ties with Azerbaijan as “strategic and unique” and stressed both countries were ensuring efforts for peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.

Garibashvili highlighted peace “is crucial” for the economic development and prosperity of the regional countries.

On his part, Asadov said the bilateral relations between the two countries had reached a strategic level.

“Our relations are developing in all fields – economy, energy, transport, culture, education, military and others. We support each other in the development of these areas. I believe that today, the documents signed with your participation will further accelerate this process”, Asadov told the Georgian PM.

He noted Azerbaijan and Georgia “always support each other at the level of international relations. We have always supported each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”.
