Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš is set to hold a brief meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Armenia on Sunday, but has said he does not plan to travel to Ukraine.

Speaking to the Czech outlet iDnes.cz, Babiš said the talks would take place on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit.

“I will also hold short bilateral meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of Serbia and the President of Moldova. For the first time, I will also meet Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. It is important that we meet,” Babiš said.

He confirmed, however, that a visit to Kyiv is not on his agenda.

“No, I will not go to Kyiv,” he stated.

Babiš added that he may meet Zelenskyy again in the future at a conference planned in Poland, which is expected to focus on Ukraine’s reconstruction.
