Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of the opposition party Lelo and the coalition Strong Georgia, has been fined ₾50,000 for failing to appear before a parliamentary investigative commission.

Japaridze criticized the court’s decision, claiming it merely rubber-stamps the Prosecutor’s Office’s demands.

“The court is acting like a notary. Strong legal arguments were presented proving that this commission is illegal and illegitimate. It’s a group created through political fraud, and I have no intention of appearing before it,” he stated.

A few days earlier, another leader of Strong Georgia, Mamuka Khazaradze, was also fined ₾50,000 for the same reason — refusal to comply with a summons by the commission.
