Police detained Elene Khoshtaria and Giorgi Kirtadze, leaders of the Coalition for Change, during a protest in Batumi on Sunday evening.

Khoshtaria was reportedly attempting to put up a protest poster when an altercation with police ensued. Kirtadze was detained shortly after, as he tried to intervene in Khoshtaria’s arrest.

Authorities are also detaining other participants of the demonstration. According to initial reports, approximately 10 individuals have been taken into custody.
