Israeli teen arrested in Batumi for attempting to smuggle psychotropic drugs

During a search of the suspect’s luggage, officers seized 1,120 tablets of the psychotropic drug Pregabalin as evidence

An Israeli citizen born in 2008 has been arrested at Batumi International Airport on charges of illegal possession and importation of a large quantity of psychotropic substances.
According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs on Wednesday, the operation was carried out jointly by the Central Criminal Police Department’s Adjara division and the Revenue Service’s Customs Department.
During a search of the suspect’s luggage, officers seized 1,120 tablets of the psychotropic drug Pregabalin as evidence. The teenager, identified as I.R., was detained on the spot and charged accordingly.
The offences are punishable by up to 12 years in prison under Articles 261 and 263, Part 3, of Georgia’s Criminal Code.
