Officers of the Adjara Police Department under Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a Ukrainian citizen, born in 1998, on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amount of the narcotic substance methadone as evidence during searches of the suspect’s personal belongings and a temporary residence in Batumi.

Police also confiscated materials used for packaging narcotic substances.

The crimes carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life sentence.
