Georgian law enforcement authorities have detained a Turkish citizen wanted internationally under an Interpol red notice, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, officers from the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department, together with the Counterterrorism Centre of the State Security Service of Georgia, carried out the arrest in Batumi.

The detainee was being sought by Turkish authorities for multiple serious crimes and had been placed on Interpol’s international wanted list at the request of Turkey.

The Interior Ministry said the suspect was located and arrested following investigative measures conducted by Georgian law enforcement agencies.
