Interpol red notice suspect arrested in Georgia's Batumi

Police in Georgia have arrested an Azerbaijani citizen who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has said.

The suspect was wanted internationally at the request of Azerbaijani law enforcement authorities in connection with serious criminal offences.

Officers from the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department arrested the individual in the Black Sea city of Batumi following investigative measures, the ministry said.

Extradition procedures are now under way in accordance with Georgian law, according to the ministry.
