Officers of the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have detained a Turkish national wanted internationally via an Interpol Red Notice.

The detainee - identified as A.Ch., born in 1974 and a citizen of Turkey - was apprehended in Batumi, in western Georgia.

The individual was being sought at the request of Turkish law enforcement authorities for a serious crime and had been placed on the Interpol Red Notice list.

Extradition procedures envisaged by law are currently underway.
