The weakness of Germany and France led to the aggression of Russia, we know from the history of Russia that it is a weak position that leads to the Kremlin's aggression, – said the former commander of the US Army Ben Hodges in an exclusive interview with Radio Georgia.
“It is not yet known what intentions Moscow has. The fact is that under the conditions of the so-called. ceasefire since the beginning of the year, the Russians have killed more than 20 Ukrainian soldiers. It is also clear that more than 30,000 Russian military personnel, including representatives of the ground forces, aviation and navy, continue to illegally occupy Crimea. They have stayed there since 2014. More military personnel have now arrived on the peninsula. Now thousands of Russian troops are stationed near the borders of Ukraine, ”Ben Hodges said.
According to him, Russia is doing all this to intimidate the Ukrainian government and challenge the West.
“This is a demonstration that the Kremlin does not respect the sovereignty of the European Union, Ukraine or the United States. This is a test. In my opinion, the weakness of Germany and France led to the aggression of Russia. We know from the history of Russia that it is a weak position that leads to the Kremlin's aggression. Russia's aggression against Ukraine, of course, poses a threat to Georgia, because if the Kremlin sees that the West will do nothing to bring Moscow to justice, then, logically, they can expand their influence in Georgia and the South Caucasus as a whole. … So if we want a safe environment, we must confront them. We must demonstrate that this region is strategically important for us,” Ben Hodges said in an exclusive interview with Radio Georgia.
