Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow has called for stronger private sector participation in infrastructure projects linking Turkmenistan and Georgia, including the possible development of a Turkmen terminal on Georgia's Black Sea coast.
Speaking at the Georgia-Turkmenistan Business Forum on Thursday, Berdimuhamedow said bilateral cooperation should extend beyond government institutions, with businesses taking a leading role in logistics, infrastructure and international supply chains.
"Our focus should not be limited to cooperation between state institutions. The private sectors should also actively participate in infrastructure development," Berdimuhamedow said.
He said businesses could make a significant contribution to expanding cooperation in logistics, transport infrastructure, terminal development and global supply chains.
The Turkmen president also revealed that the two countries were discussing the establishment of a Turkmen terminal on Georgia's Black Sea coast, saying the project would bring the countries closer together and strengthen public-private partnerships while attracting foreign direct investment.
Berdimuhamedow added that Turkmenistan was interested in learning from Georgia's development experience, particularly in the tourism sector.
"We want to develop major tourist centres in Turkmenistan based on Georgia's experience. You achieved excellent results in this field in 2025, and we are striving to replicate that success," he said.
