Births decreased 3.7% in Georgia in 2020

The birth rate in Georgia decreased by 3.7% in 2020, the National Statistics Office of Georgia has reported. 

 

The state agency says that 46,520 children were born last year – 24,289 boys and 22,231 girls. 

 

16,877 of 46,520 children were born in unregistered marriages which amounts to 36.3% of total births. 

 

Deaths have outnumbered births last year.  

 

The difference stood at 4,017.
