Russia is considering a partial halt to its airstrikes on Ukraine - including a pause in drone and missile attacks - as a potential gesture toward US President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed Russian sources.
The outlet said the move was aimed at easing pressure from anticipated US sanctions that may be imposed after 8 August - a deadline set by Trump for countries continuing to buy Russian oil and other goods.
However, Bloomberg's sources emphasised that Moscow was not contemplating a full ceasefire. President Vladimir Putin’s broader objectives in the war against Ukraine remained unchanged, and there was no indication that Russia was willing to end the conflict altogether.
The reported strategy is seen as a possible concession to Trump, who has threatened to impose steep tariffs - up to 100% - on nations purchasing Russian exports, including major economies such as China and India.
