Leader of the European Georgia opposition party Giga Bokeria says that if the opposition fails to ensure large engagement of the public, even in the case early parliamentary elections are scheduled, ‘which is the opposition’s key goal’, results are expected to be the same for the opposition.
He has told TV Pirveli channel that street rallies must become a daily routine for the opposition and the public must be well-aware that the process may last long.
“First of all the opposition should tell the public, who are involved in rallies, that the fight will take a long time and not several days or weeks. The public may get angry, but they should know this.
“Secondly, the rallies should become a daily routine for the opposition for that Ivanishvili (founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili) must be aware that the process is in progress and rallies are held intensively. It will be dependent on various factors when the rallies will reach their culmination and the government will have to make concessions.
“As for the political parties and the society who are active in the process, If we want the attention and depicting the situation as a political crisis, no matter whether our foreign partners will be angered by this, the opposition MPs must quit parliament. This will be a factor.”
